Job Description: The successful candidate will engage in alloy design based on thermodynamic calculations, employing a “vessel phase approach” to create compositional inhomogeneities and support the formation of a refined multi-phase microstructure during thermomechanical treatment. The focus will be on basic research to identify and understand hydrogen embrittlement mechanisms in charged samples. The candidate will develop approaches to enhance hydrogen embrittlement resistance, potentially through well-directed thermomechanical treatments or the addition of specific alloying elements.
