Description

The MAGICON project aims to redesign concrete through innovative research in five key areas:

  1. Small-scale Sample Production: Develop methods to create samples that accurately represent composite materials.
  2. Testing Techniques: Innovate new ways to measure mechanical and transport properties of concrete.
  3. ITZ Properties Improvements: Enhance the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) among composite elements.
  4. Microscale Testing and Upscaling: Utilize deterministic models for predicting and enhancing concrete behavior.
  5. Machine Learning Integration: Create datasets and machine learning models to validate new concrete behaviors and improve design.

Candidates will be supervised by a team of experienced researchers, including Professor Erik Schlangen.
