Research Area

The research focuses on advancing metaproteomics and studying antibiotic resistance mechanisms using novel methodologies. Candidates will engage with both fundamental scientific inquiries and applied research in clinical and biotechnological fields.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Knowledge of fundamental biochemical and analytical methods; familiarity with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is advantageous.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in scientific English (written and spoken).
  • Mobility Requirement: Willingness to spend time at international research institutions.
  • Team Player: Must enjoy collaborative research within a large international consortium.

Description

The PhD candidates will perform research with a focus on the following projects: one on enhancing metaproteomic methods and the other on analyzing hospital wastewater for antibiotic resistance genes. Both projects will leverage cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to explore the dynamics of microbiomes in various ecosystems and their impacts on public health. Candidates will also have the opportunity to conduct research visits at institutions across Europe.
