PhD Positions in Two-Dimensional Spintronics: Multiple PhD Studentship positions are available in the group of Dr. Ahmet Avsar at the Material Science and Engineering Department of National University of Singapore. The research focuses on experimentally studying spin-dependent transport phenomena in novel quantum materials with a specific focus on two-dimensional spintronics.

PhD Studentship Positions in Two-Dimensional Spintronics

Designation: PhD Student

Research Area

The research focuses on the preparation and characterization of next-generation spintronics devices built by stacking promising two-dimensional quantum materials for applications in energy-efficient information technologies. This involves investigating superconducting and magnetic insulators, advanced nanofabrication, and magneto-transport measurements utilizing low-temperature cryostats.

Location

National University of Singapore, Material Science and Engineering Department

Eligibility/Qualification

  • First Class or high 2:1 Honours degree or international equivalent (e.g. > 3.3 out of 4) in materials science, physics, engineering, or closely related disciplines.
  • Enthusiasm for research, ability to think and work independently, good analytical skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience in cleanroom processing, fabrication of 2D heterostructures, programming, or low-temperature physics is desirable.

Job Description

  • Conduct advanced nanofabrication in state-of-the-art research facilities.
  • Perform magneto-transport measurements utilizing low-temperature cryostats.
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and write research articles.
