Eligibility/Qualification:

  • For PhD position: Hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry
  • For PostDoc position: Hold a PhD degree in Chemistry
  • Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry
  • Desirable experience or affinity with computational chemistry, photochemistry, coordination chemistry, and biochemistry
  • Good communication skills and ability to work safely, independently, and in a team environment
  • Willingness to travel internationally due to the multidisciplinary international consortium nature of the project
  • Oral and written command of English

Job Description:

PhD/PostDoc Position on Development of New Photoswitchable Molecules

  • Contribute to the development of new photoswitchable molecules
  • Incorporate the developed molecules into larger (bio)molecules
  • Conduct organic synthesis, molecular design, photochemical characterization, NMR spectroscopy, and computational chemistry
  • Collaborate closely with Prof. Kathrin Leppek’s group (Uni Bonn) and potentially with Prof. Dragomir Milovanovic’s group (DZNE Berlin) and Prof. Meng-Meng Fu’s group (UC Berkeley)
  • Work within the framework of an international consortium funded by the Human Frontiers Science Program
