PhD/Postdoc Position – Project TAIGER: The Trustworthy Cyber-Physical Systems Group at TU Wien invites applications for a PhD or Postdoc position in the context of the TAIGER project: Training and Guiding AI Agents with Ethical Rules. The successful candidate will contribute to groundbreaking research in formal methods applied to guide autonomous agents using reinforcement learning, with a focus on ethical, legal, and social norms.

Eligibility/Qualification:
For PostDoc Position:
- Completed PhD in Computer Science or related fields
- Experience in developing tools
- Solid expertise in reinforcement learning methods and formal methods
- Knowledge of logic
- Very good English skills (writing, speaking)
- Promising publication record
For PhD Position:
- Completed Master in Computer Science or related fields

Job Description:
PhD/Postdoc Position – Project TAIGER: Training and Guiding AI Agents with Ethical Rules
The successful candidate will conduct research within the TAIGER project, aiming to design autonomous agents sensitive to ethical, legal, and social norms. The project integrates symbolic AI techniques and sub-symbolic AI (Machine Learning), particularly Reinforcement Learning. The candidate will work on effective frameworks to equip RL-based agents with the ability to comply with norms transparently, handling potential contradictions in normative requirements and addressing situations where compliance is challenging.
