Scholarship Description: The UFZ presents a unique opportunity with four PhD positions in the SmartManure project, focusing on circular economy principles and sustainable agriculture in liquid manure management. As part of this project, the PhD Researcher will work on the electrochemical conversion of greenhouse gases (CH4 and CO2) from liquid manure into valuable chemicals, particularly methanol. The project aims to address on-farm manure management, combining circular economy aspects with sustainable agriculture practices.
Eligibility:
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
- Experience in process development is advantageous.
- Readiness for intensive material and process development.
- High motivation, team player skills, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Additional skills such as interest in electrochemistry, software/data evaluation, organizational skills, and teamwork are valued.
