Eligibility/Qualification:
- 2:1 undergraduate degree in a relevant area of science or technology, or equivalent qualifications
- For 2:2 or lower: Master’s degree in a relevant subject or three or more years of full-time work experience related to the undergraduate degree or PhD projects
- Open to both Home and International students
- Proficiency in English (IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent)

PhD Researcher – Future Grains: Evaluating impacts of elevated CO2 and temperature on yield and grain quality in cereals
The PhD researcher will investigate the genetic diversity in barley, rye, and wheat to enhance traits vital for climate change adaptation. The focus includes understanding phenology, physiological responses, biomass accumulation, yield, and grain quality under elevated CO2 and temperature. The project seeks to address challenges in advanced breeding techniques, specifically related to climate change, with the ultimate goal of maximizing positive impacts on yield and grain quality.
Funding Details:
- Open to Home and International students
- Four-year funding from October 2024
- Covers tuition fees at the home rate plus an annual stipend (set by Research Councils)
