Research Area
The research will be conducted within the Integrated Molecular Plant Physiology (IMPRES) group, focusing on the signaling pathways that regulate cell wall integrity in plants, particularly using Arabidopsis thaliana root hair cells as a model.
Eligibility/Qualification
- Hold an MSc degree with excellent results in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, environmental sciences, or a related area.
- Eligibility to apply for an FWO PhD fellowship.
- Experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, and microscopy techniques is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical analyses.
- Fluent in English, both written and oral.
Description
The PhD candidate will investigate the dynamic interplay of key components in the cell wall integrity pathway, conducting phenotyping experiments, advanced fluorescence microscopy, and wet-lab research. Responsibilities include:
- Designing experiments and characterizing transgenic and mutant Arabidopsis lines.
- Imaging and quantifying dynamics of cell wall integrity components.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and assisting in teaching practical courses.
The candidate will be expected to apply for an FWO PhD fellowship in December 2025.
