Scholarship Description

The PhD project focuses on developing next-generation antibiotic biosensors to measure antibiotic concentrations at infection sites. The research aims to expand existing biosensor technologies to cover major antibiotic classes through protein design and engineering.

The doctoral researcher will:

  • Design and develop antibiotic biosensor candidates using computational approaches.
  • Perform experimental validation of engineered proteins.
  • Apply biosensors in bacterial infection models.
  • Study antibiotic concentration dynamics in systems including biofilms, stem-cell-derived organoids, and bioengineered tissues.
  • Work within the Swiss-wide NCCR AntiResist research network.
