PhD Scholarship: 3D In Vitro Lung Models, CIC biomaGUNE, Spain

Postdoc in Spain

PhD Scholarship: 3D In Vitro Lung Models: A PhD position is available as part of a collaborative project between CIC biomaGUNE and Leartiker. The research focuses on the fabrication of 3D in vitro lung models that simulate breathing effects using a multifunctional bioreactor. The position is supervised by Dr. Dorleta Jimenez de Aberasturi and Dr. Ane Miren Zaldua, with a focus on developing fully functional tissue models for drug testing platforms.

Study Area

The PhD position is open to candidates with a background in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Biotechnology, Biology/Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related fields. Experience in 3D printing, bioreactor design, material synthesis, 3D in vitro models, and/or cell culture is highly desirable.

Scholarship Description

The project aims to develop novel human 3D in vitro models by fabricating bioengineered tissues using hybrid photocurable bioresins and bioprinting techniques. A key component is the design of a customized bioreactor to simulate breathing motions, providing the necessary mechanical stimulation for realistic cell behavior. The ultimate goal is to create validated 3D models suitable for drug testing platforms. The position offers a 4-year predoctoral contract, with the first two years at CIC biomaGUNE and the subsequent two years at Leartiker.
