PhD Scholarship: Algorithmic Energy Trading: The University of Twente is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship in Algorithmic Energy Trading. The successful candidate will be working on online data-driven algorithms for energy trading in short-term power markets, in collaboration with the Industrial Engineering & Business Information Systems (IEBIS) section at the Faculty of Behavioral, Management, and Social Sciences.

The research will involve statistical learning and mathematical optimization at the intersection of academia and industry, particularly in the energy sector.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
- Affinity and/or experience with computer programming, statistical learning, and optimization techniques
- Strong communication skills and an excellent command of English
Job Description
The PhD candidate will be responsible for understanding how self-learning algorithms can facilitate automated trading on short-term power markets. This will involve designing, developing, and evaluating self-learning energy trading algorithms that can adapt to market dynamics and respond to changing market signals with economically viable trading decisions.
