Research Area

The research focuses on enhancing communication technologies through innovative hollow-core fiber (HCF) systems that offer advantages such as lower propagation loss, reduced latency, and flexible light wavelength selection.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Master’s degree or an equivalent education inclusive of at least 240 credits, with 60 credits at the second-cycle level.
  • A minimum of 120 credits in physics or a relevant area.
  • Strong interest in physics, particularly optics, and foundational knowledge in material science.

Description

As a PhD candidate, you will:

  • Conduct theoretical studies and optimize light guidance in hollow-core fibers.
  • Characterize fabricated HCFs regarding their structural and optical transmission properties.
  • Engage in experimental investigations of ultra-thin silica membranes.

This position is part of a consortium project with notable partners, including research institutes and telecommunications companies.
