Eligibility/Qualification:
- Masters degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or Computational Science.
- Excellent programming skills and mathematical ability.
- Good understanding of quantum mechanics and physical/chemical intuition.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Experience with machine learning is especially favorable.
Description:
The selected PhD candidate will work within the Theoretical Chemical Physics group led by Prof. Alexandre Tkatchenko. The research involves using high-performance computing to run density functional theory (DFT) codes and develop machine-learned force fields (MLFF) for modeling long-range intermolecular interactions. The project aims to improve machine-learning methodologies based on comparisons to DFT with many-body dispersion corrections. Collaboration with renowned research groups and exposure to cutting-edge methodologies in computational chemistry are integral parts of this role.
