Eligibility/Qualification
- 1st class or 2.1 honours Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Materials Science.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong interest in computational modeling and computer programming.
- Knowledge of material processing, manufacturing, and material testing/characterization.
- Good problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
Description
The PhD project is research-intensive and aims to develop predictive modeling and process characterization for the recycling of waste titanium alloys, particularly in the context of additive manufacturing. The candidate will focus on:
- Developing a multi-physics computational model to predict interactions between the additive manufacturing process and the recycling of materials.
- Collaborating with I-Form Research Centre and other research groups.
- Conducting experimental work to validate model results.
