PhD Scholarship in Environmental Chemistry: Umeå University’s Department of Chemistry is inviting applications for a PhD position specializing in Environmental Chemistry. Eligibility/Qualifications

  • Completed second-cycle degree or equivalent (at least 240 ECTS credits), with a minimum of 90 ECTS credits in chemistry or related fields.
  • At least 15 ECTS credits in second-cycle level courses within the specialization.
  • Practical experience in programming, computational modelling, environmental chemistry, and mass spectrometry is advantageous.
  • Strong interest in analytical chemistry and toxicology.

Job Description

  • Conduct research on computational models to understand the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of organic pollutants in zebrafish.
  • Advance physiologically based kinetic models using tissue-specific data from mass spectrometry analyses.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary and international collaboration, including research visits.
  • Participate in doctoral courses and potentially contribute to departmental teaching (up to 20%).
