Fully-Funded PhD Scholarship in Analysis of Bayesian Intelligent Autonomous Systems at TU/e

Designation: PhD Student

Research Area:
The scholarship focuses on the analysis of Bayesian Intelligent Autonomous Systems, with an emphasis on information-theoretic properties of intelligent systems that learn from their environment. The selected candidate will work within the framework of Active Inference, exploring ways to improve data acquisition protocols for these agents.

Location: Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A master’s degree (or equivalent university degree) in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.
  • A curious and research-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Motivated to develop teaching skills and coach students.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English (C1 level).

Job Description:
As a PhD candidate, you will engage in ground-breaking research focusing on probabilistic machine learning methods such as (variational) Bayesian inference and Active Inference, applied to signal processing and control systems. Specifically, your role will involve delving into information theory to derive insights into potential improvements in data acquisition protocols for Active Inference agents. You will become an integral member of the Bayesian Intelligent Autonomous Systems laboratory, driving forward the frontiers of Artificial Intelligence and probabilistic models.

How to Apply:
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a complete application by using the apply button on the TU/e website. The application should include a cover letter, proof of proficiency in English and academic writing, curriculum vitae, including a list of publications, and copies of diplomas with course grades (transcripts).
