Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Aeronautical Engineering, or Applied Physics, or have completed courses totaling a minimum of 240 credits, with at least 60 in advanced courses in the aforementioned subjects. Knowledge in areas such as metallurgy, materials and manufacturing technology, mechanical properties, solid mechanics, advanced material characterization techniques, and mechanical testing and measurement techniques is advantageous. Proficiency in English (both spoken and written) is essential, and advanced skills in spoken and written Swedish are advantageous. Experiences in research, writing, and presenting work are also valued.

Job Description: As a PhD student at Linköping University, successful candidates will primarily focus on doctoral studies and the research projects associated with the role. This may also involve a maximum of 20% of full-time teaching or other departmental duties. The two projects entail in-depth investigation into creep and dwell fatigue in additive manufacturing of Ni-base alloys, as well as defect detection and its impact on fatigue behavior for metal additive manufacturing parts with complex geometries.
