Location: University of Amsterdam, Van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (HIMS)

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A Master’s degree in science, preferably in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, engineering physics, materials science, computational science, or artificial intelligence with a specialization in natural science
  • Experience with molecular simulation and machine learning is preferred
  • Good programming skills
  • Excellent communication skills in oral and written English
  • Interest in collaborating with students, PhDs, and postdoctoral researchers in related projects and research groups within and outside the Netherlands

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and applying a state-of-the-art computational framework for studying electro-catalytic reactions and designing improved catalyst materials
  • Setting up, training, and applying neural network potential based molecular dynamics simulations for catalyst screening
  • Applying machine learning techniques to obtain reaction free landscapes and improve integrated models for investigation of electron and proton transfer reactions at catalyst materials
  • Proposing new catalyst materials, working conditions, and experiments to collaborators
  • Conducting independent research, actively participating in the research group, writing manuscripts, and publishing and presenting work in peer-reviewed international journals, books, and conferences
  • Contributing to the supervision of BSc/MSc student projects and teaching activities of the department
