Job Description

The selected PhD candidate will contribute to innovative research projects involving the development and biological assessment of next-generation neural and retinal stimulation technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and working with neural and retinal cell models.
  • Performing advanced imaging techniques for biological characterization.
  • Conducting electrophysiological studies, including:
    • Patch Clamp Recordings
    • Multi-Electrode Array (MEA) Analysis
  • Evaluating the biological performance of novel optoelectronic and photovoltaic biointerfaces.
  • Collaborating with researchers across photonics, biology, and translational medicine disciplines.
  • Contributing to high-impact scientific publications and conference presentations.

The project builds upon recent groundbreaking work published in the journal Science Advances titled “Photovoltaic nanoassembly of nanowire arrays sensitized with colloidal nanocrystals for near-infrared retina photostimulation” (2026).
