PhD Scholarship in Organic Chemistry: A fully-funded 3-year PhD position in organic chemistry, photocatalysis, C-H functionalization, and homogeneous enantioselective metal catalysis is available at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The project, under the supervision of Associate Professor Søren Kramer, will be conducted in the Organic and Inorganic Chemistry Section at DTU Chemistry.

Summary Table:
Position Type | PhD Scholarship |
---|---|
Duration | 3 years |
Location | Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark |
Supervisor | Associate Professor Søren Kramer |
Start Date | September 1, 2024 |
Study Area: The research in the Kramer group focuses on the development of novel methods in organic chemistry, transition-metal catalysis, photocatalysis, enantioselective catalysis, and C-H functionalization, along with the elucidation of reaction mechanisms.
Scholarship Description: The PhD project will involve the development of novel methods in photoinduced transition-metal catalysis for enantioselective C-H functionalizations. The emphasis will be on methodology development within this field, including organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and substrate scope investigation. The successful candidate will undergo a four-month stay at AstraZeneca, benefiting from both academic and industrial supervision.
Eligibility: Candidates should hold a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or an equivalent academic qualification in chemistry or chemical engineering. A strong background in experimental organic chemistry is essential. While experience in method development and catalysis is advantageous, it is not a mandatory requirement.
Required Documents: Applicants must submit the following documents as one PDF file:
- A letter motivating the application (cover letter)
- Curriculum vitae
- Grade transcripts and BSc/MSc diploma (in English) with an official description of the grading scale
- 2 recommendation letters or full contact information of 2 academic references
- List of publications and presentations
How to Apply: Submit your online application no later than 7 March 2024 (23:59 Danish time). Applications will be assessed on a continuous basis, so early submissions are encouraged. To apply, complete the online application form via the “Apply now” link, and attach all materials in English as one PDF file.
Last Date: The deadline for application submission is 7 March 2024 (23:59 Danish time). Applications and enclosures received after the deadline will not be considered.
