PhD Scholarship in Organic Chemistry: The Laboratory of Glycochemistry and Agroresources of Amiens (LG2A) is seeking a motivated PhD student to join their team for a 36-month fully-funded position in organic chemistry. Eligibility/Qualification:
- Must hold a Master 2 degree specialized in organic chemistry
- Solid knowledge in organic synthesis, bibliographic research (Reaxys), multi-step synthesis of sugars, purification, and characterization of new compounds
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, involvement, and motivation for the subject
- Ability to present research findings and propose future research directions
- Very good ranking in bachelor’s and master’s degrees is required
Job Description: The PhD candidate will:
- Synthesize new oligosaccharides with structural and functional diversity
- Expand the library of compounds for a Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR) study
- Validate a molecular modelling study to determine decisive interactions between compounds and receptors
- Evaluate the interaction capabilities with a family of receptors involved in inflammation
- Work towards the discovery of new molecules targeting diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Multiple Sclerosis
- Present and document research findings, while proposing new research avenues
