Research Area

The research is centered on perovskite solar cells (PSCs), a rapidly advancing photovoltaic technology. The project will specifically investigate ion conductivity within perovskite thin films and solar cells, assessing its effect on device performance and long-term stability. The PhD student will also be responsible for developing methods to control this ion conductivity. Experimental work will involve preparing perovskite films and solar cells using wet-chemical deposition, as well as analyzing them using electrochemical techniques and advanced spectroscopies. This project is part of the SOLVE – Solar Electricity Research Centre, Sweden consortium.

Location

Uppsala, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Awarded a second-cycle degree in chemistry (or a related subject) with a good understanding of physical chemistry, OR
  • Completed at least 240 credits in higher education, with at least 60 credits at Master’s level including an independent project worth at least 15 credits, OR
  • Acquired essentially equivalent knowledge in some other way (in Sweden or abroad).
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with solar cell research.
  • Experience in thin film deposition.
  • Experience in electrochemistry.
  • Experience with various spectroscopies.

Personal Attributes:

  • Good collaborative skills.
  • Drive and independence.
  • Ability to complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department.

Scholarship Description

As a PhD student, your primary duties will involve dedicating yourself to research studies, participating in research projects, and undertaking third-cycle courses.
