PhD Scholarship in Plant Virology: The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship in the field of Plant Virology and Insect Behavior. The scholarship is part of the ANR JCJC “PHENOMANI” project and will commence at the end of 2024 or early 2025. Eligibility/Qualification
- Required Training: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Ecology, Agronomy, or Virology.
- Knowledge Required: Basic understanding of plant-insect interactions and phytopathology; interest in studying insect behavior using new tools (video-tracking); experience in data processing and statistical analysis tools (e.g., R); experience in molecular biology and cellular techniques would be advantageous.

Job Description
The successful candidate will conduct research autonomously under controlled laboratory conditions. Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging in high-throughput video-phenotyping techniques to study aphid behavior in response to viral infection in Arabidopsis thaliana.
- Conducting Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) to identify functional loci (genes or genomic regions) involved in the manipulation mechanisms of viral transmission.
- Functional validation of identified genes in transgenic Arabidopsis to confirm their role in viral manipulation effects.
