Scholarship Description
This PhD scholarship involves investigating bioactive natural products from microbes using cutting-edge analytical techniques. The goal is to characterize microbial secondary metabolites for potential applications in biocontrol and human medicine. The project will employ high-resolution mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy, and various chromatography methods. The candidate will engage in genome-mining and structural elucidation of bioactive compounds.
Eligibility
- A two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Strong background in natural product chemistry, metabolomics, or microbial engineering.
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS, MALDI, and NMR.
- Experience in genome-mining and genetic handling is advantageous.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Motivated, hard-working, and a team player.
