PhD Scholarship in RNA Virus Evolution: Unraveling Molecular Constraints
The project involves a balance of dry and wet lab work, focusing on investigating genomic signatures leading to non-homologous recombination, the formation of defective viral genomes (DVGs), and defective interfering particles (DIP). The candidate will generate DVGs, characterize them using various methods, and explore genomic features for therapeutic approaches. Bioinformatic analysis of a large dataset will be crucial, requiring the development of existing pipelines.
Eligibility:
- Master’s degree in Virology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related fields.
- Interest in viruses and their evolution.
- Demonstrable bioinformatics skills (Python, R, etc.) highly desirable.
- Willingness to work in both wet and dry lab environments.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
- Well-organized and highly motivated to learn.
