PhD Scholarship in Structural Bioinformatics: Linköping University is offering a fully-funded PhD scholarship in structural bioinformatics under the guidance of Assistant Professor Björn Forsberg at the bioinformatics division within the department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM). Location: Linköping, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s level degree with a minimum of 240 credits, with at least 60 in advanced courses in computational or mathematical fields OR demonstrated experience in structural biology or bioinformatics
  • Proficiency in Python and C++, with evidence of software development through GitHub contributions
  • Experience or skills in data visualization approaches, software development using pytorch, C++, CUDA or other HPC-oriented solutions, large-scale data usage, and Unix environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Job Description:
The selected PhD student will be responsible for developing computational tools to characterize and quantify heterogeneity in macromolecular cryo-EM reconstructions using modern programming languages. Additionally, the student will have the opportunity to work on high-performance computing solutions using national super-computing infrastructure and collaborate nationally and internationally in software development and applied biological research. Teaching or other departmental duties may be involved up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
