Eligibility / Qualification
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Master’s degree in Chemistry or Bioscience Engineering (Chemistry option)
- Strong theoretical and practical background in organic synthetic chemistry
- Hands-on experience with:
- Analytical separation techniques
- Mass spectrometry
- Preparative purification techniques
- Structural characterization of organic molecules
- Final-year Master’s students are encouraged to apply
- Prior experience in continuous flow chemistry is an advantage
- Good English communication and scientific writing skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Interest in multidisciplinary research and industry collaboration
- Willingness to apply for an external personal PhD grant
Job Description
- Conduct PhD research in the Maes Group (Organic Synthesis Division – ORSY)
- Develop novel continuous flow chemistry methodologies
- Transform bio-renewable platform molecules into value-added building blocks
- Apply various classes of organic reactions under flow conditions
- Work with state-of-the-art continuous flow equipment
- Participate in collaborations within:
- Centre of Excellence CASCH
- Valorization Platform InSusChem
- Publish research results in high-impact scientific journals
- Contribute to the academic and research activities of the department
