Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
    • MSc in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field
    • Equivalent qualification (e.g., 4-year bachelor’s degree for international applicants)
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Desirable (not mandatory):
    • Experience operating filters or reactors
    • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques
    • Skills in programming, data analysis, statistics
    • Background in mathematical modeling or wastewater engineering

🧾 Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research (>80% time) related to OMP removal using GAC filters
  • Perform experiments, sample analysis, biofilm structure investigations, and microbial community analysis
  • Develop a mathematical model of adsorption and biodegradation
  • Publish scientific papers and present at international conferences
  • Assist in teaching and student engagement (<20% time)
  • Undertake relevant PhD coursework

Research Environment:

  • Collaborative research group in Wastewater Management and Environmental Biotechnology
  • Supervision from experts in WET and Systems Control
  • Work alongside other PhD students and postdocs
  • Projects often involve partnerships with municipalities, R&D companies, and consultants
