PhD Scholarship Opportunity at UCLouvain: UCLouvain invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in the research group of Prof. Ludovic Troian-Gautier, as part of a “DfG Weave” research program. The research focuses on developing novel chromophores for anti-dissipative strategies. The candidate will collaborate with Dr. Alejandro Cadranel’s team at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany), including temporary research stays in Germany.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in experimental chemistry with a specialization in organic or inorganic synthesis.
- Minimum grade of “Distinction” (i.e., 3.14/4.00 or equivalent).
- Strong research background and achievements in the field.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Participate in a collaborative research program between UCLouvain and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität.
- Work on the development of novel chromophores that exhibit “anti-Kasha” behavior and excited-state electron transfer properties.
- Conduct tasks across three working packages:
- Preparation and study of monometallic and bimetallic chromophores with photo-inactive metal centers.
- Synthesis and analysis of chromophores with photo-active metal centers.
- Exploration of ligand substitutions with electron-donating or withdrawing groups.
- Learn and apply advanced photochemical measurement techniques.
Funding
- Type: Doctoral Fellowship (tax-free with social security contributions).
- Monthly Stipend: ~€2370.
- Duration: 24 months, renewable for an additional 24 months.
