Fully-Funded PhD Scholarship: Perovskite Materials: We are offering a fully-funded PhD scholarship in the field of experimental ultrafast spectroscopy at the Faculty of Science, Leiden University. Fully-Funded PhD Scholarship in Ultrafast Broadband-THz Spectroscopy of Perovskite Materials

Research Area:
Ultrafast broadband-THz spectroscopy of perovskite materials, with a focus on understanding the dynamics of photoexcited electrons in metal-halide perovskites within the framework of dynamic disorder.

Location: Leiden, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline
  • Strong interest in ultrafast spectroscopy and solid-state chemistry/physics
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both verbally and written
  • Hands-on mentality with the ability to tackle complex experimental setups and challenges
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment with a high value for initiative and creativity
  • Experience with ultrafast spectroscopy, optics, proficiency in programming (e.g., Python), and/or perovskite materials preparation is an advantage, but not essential

Job Description:
The selected candidate will:

  • Construct advanced spectroscopic setups
  • Gain experience in solution-based perovskite synthesis
  • Collect and analyze time-resolved and nonlinear spectroscopic data
  • Model acquired data using state-of-the-art theory using Python/Matlab/etc.
  • Engage in discussions with colleagues and provide assistance
  • Develop and pose research questions, and work towards addressing them
  • Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and write a PhD thesis
  • Present results at national and international conferences
  • Participate in teaching activities
  • Attend additional (soft skill) courses and schools for personal and academic development
