PhD Scholarship Opportunity: Molecular Plant Biodiversity Research
Designation: PhD Student – Molecular Plant Biodiversity
Research Area: The research focuses on understanding the interplay of genotype, phenotype, and environmental triggers in the context of water limitation and nutrient element accumulation in plant species within arid habitats.
Location: Munich, Germany
Eligibility/Qualification:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in biology or a related field with a background in plant sciences, plant ecology, or equivalent
- Proficiency in molecular laboratory techniques, bioinformatic and statistical methods, and applicable knowledge of transcriptomic/genomic analyses
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Strong organizational skills, commitment, and willingness to work in an international and interdisciplinary team
Job Description:
As a PhD student, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and conducting experiments including plant cultivation, phenotyping, wet-lab work, molecular analyses, and element measurements
- Managing and analyzing RNA-Seq data and genomic data for adaptations to arid habitats
- Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presenting research results at national and international conferences
- Actively participating in group and project meetings, as well as fieldwork expeditions to the Atacama Desert, Chile
