PhD Scholarship & Postdoctoral Fellow: The Queensland University of Technology (QUT), through its QUT Centre for Biomedical Technologies, is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD Scholarship and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in engineering. These roles focus on developing the next generation of clinical training tools for complex medical therapies, aiming to deliver rapid and measurable improvements in healthcare practice.

Both positions offer the opportunity to work closely with clinicians, contribute to impactful translational research, and produce strong academic outputs including publications and conference presentations.

Designation

  • Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Contract until end of 2027, possible extension)
  • PhD Candidate (3.5 years, Full Scholarship Available)

Eligibility / Qualification

For Postdoctoral Research Fellow:

  • Bachelor’s and PhD degrees in Engineering
  • Preference for Materials Engineering background
  • Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, and Mechatronics Engineers are eligible
  • Preferred experience in:
    • Biomedical research
    • Working closely with clinicians
    • 3D printing and casting
    • Ethics applications
    • Medical device testing
  • Must have valid working rights in Australia for the duration of the appointment

For PhD Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Preference for Materials Engineering background
  • Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, and Mechatronics Engineers eligible
  • Experience in working with clinicians, 3D printing, casting, or device testing is desirable but not mandatory
  • Strong passion for improving patient care and making a meaningful impact

Job Description

Both roles will contribute to the development of innovative clinical training tools designed to enhance complex medical therapies. The research aims to:

  • Deliver measurable improvements in clinical practice
  • Develop and test biomedical devices and training systems
  • Collaborate directly with healthcare professionals
  • Publish findings in high-impact journals
  • Present research at national and international conferences

The PhD position includes structured research training and mentorship within a dynamic biomedical research environment.
