PhD Scholarships in Molecular Immunology: University of Groningen, Netherlands

Postdoc in Netherlands

PhD Scholarships in Molecular Immunology: Explore the intricate mechanisms of Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) secretion with two fully funded PhD positions in Molecular Immunology. This collaborative project between the University of Groningen and Erasmus MC delves into organelle trafficking routes crucial for Weibel-Palade body (WPB) formation and secretion. Join us in unraveling the mysteries of blood coagulation and contribute to groundbreaking research in bleeding disorders.

PhD Scholarships in Molecular Immunology: Investigating Von Willebrand Factor Secretion Pathways

Study Area: Molecular Immunology

Location: University of Groningen (UG) and Erasmus MC, Rotterdam

Eligibility/Qualification: The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s degree in molecular biology or biochemistry, possess strong English language skills, and demonstrate enthusiasm and teamwork capabilities. Experience in mammalian cell biology and advanced microscopy techniques is advantageous. Candidates must be willing to spend research time at both institutions.

Description: Under the mentorship of Dr. Ruben Bierings and Dr. Geert van den Bogaart, successful applicants will investigate VWF secretion pathways using cutting-edge methodologies. The UG candidate will employ innovative microscopy techniques such as Förster resonance energy transfer-fluorescence lifetime imaging (FRET-FLIM) to map SNARE protein trafficking to WPBs. Meanwhile, the Erasmus MC candidate will conduct biochemical assays and optical studies to elucidate changes in secretory competence and fusion mode. This collaborative endeavor promises a stimulating scientific environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and techniques.

Conditions of Employment: Selected candidates will receive a competitive salary starting at €2,770 gross per month, with increases up to €3,539 gross per month over the four-year duration. Additionally, benefits include holiday and end-of-year allowances, along with opportunities for employment at spinout companies. The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
