Location: DTU Physics, Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science, or equivalent
- Excellent academic results
- Experience in electron microscopy, micro-electro-mechanical-system technology, catalysis, or surface science preferred
- Skills in scientific programming (e.g., Python) advantageous
- Good communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and in a team
Job Description: Two PhD positions are available:
Position 1:
- Focus on thermal catalysis
- Visualization of single nanoparticles using time-resolved, atomic-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
- Development of quantitative image analysis methods
- Investigation of dynamic processes on nanoparticle surfaces
- Understanding atomic mechanisms and kinetics to develop stabilization strategies for catalytic processes
Position 2:
- Focus on electrocatalysis
- Preparation of microfabricated nanoreactors for electrochemical studies
- Operando studies of nanoparticles during electrocatalysis using TEM
- Development of methods for investigating liquid-surface interactions on nanoparticles
- Relating structural dynamics to functional properties in electrocatalysis
Both positions involve collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of PhD students, postdocs, and leading international scientists.
