PhD Student in Inorganic Chemistry: Stockholm University is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for a PhD student position in Inorganic Chemistry. The project, titled “Microcrystalline Sponge Methods (MicroCS) for Analysis of Molecular Structures,” is led by Prof. Xiaodong Zou as the main supervisor and Dr. Hong Xu as the assistant supervisor. The project aims to extend the crystalline sponge method beyond X-ray diffraction by developing new MicroCS methods based on electron diffraction, focusing on porous crystalline materials, including Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs).

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Sciences.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge in AI, programming, MOFs, crystallography, and/or transmission electron microscopy are advantageous.
  • Excellent English language skills (both written and spoken).
  • Ability to work collaboratively, strong communication skills, self-motivated, and a team player.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Completion of a second-cycle degree, equivalent to at least 240 higher education credits, with 60 credits in the second cycle.
  • Specific entry requirements as per the general syllabus for doctoral studies in the field of chemistry.

Job Description: The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing MicroCSs for the analysis of different molecular structures.
  • Creating a MicroCS workflow for high-throughput structural analysis using new Electron Diffraction (ED) methods combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
