PhD Student in Learning Robot Behaviors: The Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (IRI), CSIC-UPC is offering a predoctoral scholarship for a research position within the CASANDRA project, focused on enhancing human-robot collaboration in large component manufacturing. This full-time position seeks a motivated candidate to work under the supervision of Dr. Adrià Colomé and Dr. Sergi Foix.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Must hold or be near completion of a Master’s degree (MSc) in AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++ is highly appreciated.
- Strong command of English is mandatory; knowledge of Spanish and Catalan is a plus.
- Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct research on robot behaviors in collaborative environments.
- Define interaction scenarios and monitor human fatigue and status to optimize human-robot interaction.
- Investigate human intention prediction for effective collaboration.
- Utilize motion capturing and computer vision techniques to gather data.
- Contribute to a digital twin of tasks for learning robot policies that are:
- Easy to teach for non-experts
- Safe and friendly for human collaborators
- Adaptable and requiring minimal real-world executions for implementing simulation results.
