Eligibility/Qualification

  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, or biophysics with a specialization in neuroscience.
  • Experience: Hands-on experience with molecular and cellular neuroscience is required; experience in molecular biology and (live-cell) fluorescence microscopy is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) and strong communication skills.

Job Description

As a PhD candidate, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating the molecular processes that control astrocyte-synapse interactions using techniques such as:
  • Molecular biology
  • Cell and tissue culture
  • Viral delivery methods
  • CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing
  • Super-resolution microscopy
  • Performing and analyzing microscopy data.
  • Publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals and reporting progress to funding sources.
  • Contributing to teaching activities (~10% of time) and supervising BSc and/or MSc students during internships.
  • Presenting research at international conferences.
