Research Area: Development of advanced small scale models for gastrointestinal drug absorption profiling.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Hold a Master’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, bioengineering, or related discipline
- Completed at least 240 credits in higher education, with 60 credits at Master’s level
- Strong background or equivalent knowledge in modeling, simulation, machine learning/AI, and programming
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Demonstrated ability to conduct structured research independently
Job Description:
The selected PhD student will work on developing advanced small scale models of the gastrointestinal tract. Research will focus on establishing methods to enable absorption profiling of orally administered drugs. Key tasks include developing systems with physiologically relevant characteristics, incorporating humanized cells to mimic epithelium, and accounting for the microbiome in colon-simulating segments. The project will involve in silico modeling, validating systems with available human in vivo data, and contributing primarily to research studies.
