Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- Strong background in mechanical behaviour of materials.
- Familiarity with materials testing and experimental work.
- Experience with high-speed cameras, microscopes, Matlab, Python, and preferably finite element packages.
- Independent, problem-solving, and result-oriented attitude.
- Proven academic dedication and strong study results.
- Social skills, flexibility, and critical thinking for a multidisciplinary and international academic environment.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Job Description:
The selected PhD researcher will join the MST-DyMaLab group to advance the understanding of impact-dynamic mechanical properties of materials such as advanced high strength steels, lightweight alloys, and polymer composites. The goal is to enhance predictions of high-speed forming processes and crashworthiness in the automotive and aeronautical industries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting research to characterize dynamic behaviour of materials using unique experimental facilities and measurement devices.
- Exploring and developing Materials Testing 2.0 methodologies for advanced materials.
- Combining large measurement datasets with numerical simulations to optimize testing methodologies.
- Assisting in teaching courses provided by the MST group.
- Contributing to the daily operations of the lab.

- Full-time position as a doctoral fellow for an initial period of 12 months, extendable to a maximum of 48 months after positive evaluation.
