PhD Student of Smart Devices: The Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, is seeking a highly motivated PhD student for the development of smart miniaturized microfluidic devices and systems. Eligibility/Qualification:
- Completed university studies (Master’s degree or diploma) in Mechanical engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Nanotechnology, and related disciplines.
- Experience in the design and prototyping of microfluidic chips with optical and/or all-electric detection readout.
- Proficiency in Micro- and nanofabrication.
- Programming skills.
- Very good knowledge of English and German (written and spoken).
Job Description:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the development of a high-throughput microfluidic system for the automatic culture of 3D tumor cell models. Key tasks include designing and prototyping microfluidic chips, employing optical and/or all-electric detection readout, micro- and nanofabrication, and utilizing programming skills. The role involves contributing to innovative research in the field of cancer biology.
