PhD Student or Postdoc (f/m/x): The Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences is inviting applications for a PhD Student or Postdoc in the field of “Theory and Methods for Non-equilibrium Atomistic Simulations of Complex Biomolecules.” The Department of Theoretical and Computational Biophysics, led by Prof. Dr. Helmut Grubmüller, offers exciting projects in variational free energy methods, thermodynamics of solvation shells, Markovian thermodynamics, and functional mechanisms of biomolecules like the ribosome, fatty acid synthase, CRISPR/Cas, or intrinsically disordered proteins.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- For PhD students: Hold or expect to complete soon a Master’s or equivalent degree in physics, mathematics, or a related field.
- For Postdocs: Hold a PhD or equivalent degree in physics, mathematics, or a related field.
- Keen interest and strong skills in computational molecular physics and statistical mechanics.
- Interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration with experimental groups.

- PhD students: Opportunity to participate in available PhD programs with three years of funding, in collaboration with the University of Göttingen.
- Masters students aiming at a fast-track PhD are welcome.
- Postdoc position: Limited to two years with a possibility of extension.
- Payment and benefits based on the German Public Service Payscale (TVöD Bund) guidelines.
