PHD STUDENT POSITION: Join the Research Group Economic Demography, led by Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz, in a part-time (30h per week) PHD STUDENT POSITION. Work on the collaborative project “Ageing workers in the Austrian labour market – Linked Employer-employee Data Analysis (LEDA)” for two years. Explore the productivity of older workers in the face of an ageing and shrinking workforce, focusing on the relationship between age structure, labor productivity, and wages at the firm level in Austria.

Study Area: Economics, Statistics, Demography, or related fields, with a focus on population economics.

Scholarship Description: Engage in the LEDA project, analyzing the interplay between age structure, labor productivity, and wages at the firm level in Austria. Leverage a panel dataset from 2009 to 2021 within the Austrian Micro Data Center (AMDC). Eligibility:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Demography, or a related field.
  • Pronounced interest in population economics.
  • Programming skills in STATA, R, or any other statistical software.
  • Basic understanding of quantitative research methods in economics.
  • Proficiency in German.
