PhD Fellowship IN Switzerland

PhD Student Position Available: A PhD student position is open to investigate UV-B perception and signaling in plants at the Roman Ulm Laboratory, University of Geneva, Switzerland. The research will focus on understanding early UV-B-induced photomorphogenesis and acclimation events using Arabidopsis thaliana and/or Marchantia polymorpha as model systems. The successful candidate will contribute to exploring UVRE-mediated signaling and responses.

Summary Table:

Study Area: The study area encompasses UV-B perception, signaling, and responses in plants, with a specific emphasis on UVRS photoreceptor-mediated events. For more information on the group’s research, visit www.uim-iab.ch.

Scholarship Description: We are seeking a talented and creative individual to join our team and conduct research on UVRE-mediated signaling and responses. The chosen candidate will work on a research project involving Arabidopsis thaliana and/or Marchantia polymorpha. The position offers a stimulating international scientific environment, access to cutting-edge technologies, and the opportunity to make significant contributions to the field.

Eligibility: The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, possess a strong interest in plant signal transduction, and demonstrate expertise in molecular biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, imaging techniques, or related fields. Previous experience with molecular techniques is essential. Excellent communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English are required.

Required Documents: Interested candidates should submit their application documents, including a letter of motivation explaining their interest in and qualifications for the position, their C.V., copies of degrees, and the names of two references.

How to Apply: Submit your application as a single PDF file to Roman Ulm at roman.ulm@unige.ch. The review of applications will begin immediately, and submissions will be accepted until the position is filled, as long as advertised on www.uim-lab.ch/positions. The starting date is flexible and upon agreement.

Last Date: The application deadline is ongoing until the position is filled, with updates available on www.uim-lab.ch/positions. Apply now to contribute to groundbreaking research in understanding how plants perceive, signal, and respond to UV-B.
