PhD Student Position in Animal Ecology: The Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty 1 – Biosciences, Institute for Biology / Zoology, is offering a 3-year PhD position as a Scientific Assistant (m-f-d). This part-time position (65%) provides an exciting opportunity for research and academic growth within the Animal Ecology group, focusing on insect species. The role involves data collection, analysis, and participation in teaching and administrative duties.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s or Diplom degree in Biology or Zoology
  • Preferable experience in working with insects
  • Prior experience with molecular biological methods
  • Proficiency in statistics, preferably using R
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Bioinformatics skills are an advantage

Job Description:
The successful candidate will:

  • Collect and analyze data from experiments involving various insect species
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication
  • Participate in the teaching duties of the Animal Ecology group
  • Assist in organizing administrative and teaching tasks within the group
  • Pursue their own academic qualifications through a doctoral degree
