PhD Student Position in Batteries: The Chair of Inorganic Active Materials for Electrochemical Energy Storage (Prof. Dr. Matteo Bianchini) at the University of Bayreuth is offering a PhD position funded by the European Research Council for the 4SBATT project. The research focuses on developing stable interfaces between solid-state electrolytes and electrodes for Na solid-state batteries.

PhD Student Position in Development of Stable Interfaces for Na Solid State Batteries

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree in inorganic/physical chemistry, materials science, or related field.
  • Background in batteries and electrochemistry is a plus.
  • Motivated to work at the intersection of Na-ion batteries and solid-state batteries.
  • Strong academic record and research potential.
  • Open-minded and free-thinking individuals encouraged to apply.

Job Description:

  • Synthesis and characterization (structural, electronic, electrochemical) of novel solid-state electrolyte materials.
  • Focus on materials with high Na conductivity and compatibility with cathodes and anodes.
  • Utilize inorganic synthesis, ab initio simulations, and advanced characterization tools.
  • Collaborate with group members and external partners for comprehensive research.
