PhD Student: Thromboprotection: Charité is seeking an intrinsically motivated and highly committed PhD student to join our innovative research group focused on exploring and translating molecular cardiovascular disease prevention mechanisms. PhD Student (D/F/M) Exploring and Translating Long-Term Immobility Induced Thromboprotection: From Bears to Human

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Scientific master’s degree (or equivalent) in the field of biomedicine, biotechnology, pharmacy, or molecular medicine
  • Enthusiasm for (translation) research and a willingness to learn novel experimental approaches
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English; German proficiency is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Open-minded and dedicated team player, ready to contribute actively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary group
  • Extended wet-lab experience covering a range of basic research methodologies
  • Familiarity with working with big data sets and experience in animal testing is preferred

Job Description:
As a PhD student, your responsibilities will include:

  • Exploring and characterizing disease preventive mechanisms, with a focus on thrombotic and thromboinflammatory disease
  • Planning, performing, and analyzing a broad panel of experiments, including protein assays, RNA/DNA work, cell culture work, immunofluorescence, histological studies, and flow cytometry
  • Investigating different experimental animal models and patient cohorts, participating in field studies
  • Effectively communicating scientific results in written and oral formats
  • Contributing to lab meetings, national and international conferences, and authoring peer-reviewed publications
