AI, Responsible Agency & Vulnerability: Addressing the Vulnerability Gap – PhD Studentship

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Open to home, EU, and international students with a strong academic track record.
- A 2:1 or higher in a relevant undergraduate degree, or its equivalent if outside the UK.
- Prior study in ethics of AI or philosophy, preferably to a postgraduate level.
- Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and collaborate across disciplines.
- Familiarity with data science, digital methods, or innovative research approaches is desirable.
Description: The PhD project focuses on addressing the “vulnerability gap” in responsible agency concerning AI systems. The selected candidate will conduct interdisciplinary research, drawing from philosophy, ethics, and AI studies. The project aims to develop strategies to bridge the gap between traditional responsibility practices and the unique challenges posed by AI technologies. With guidance from renowned scholars, the student will explore collective responsibility, answerability, and innovative agency cultivation approaches.
