PhD Studentship: Cardiac Models: This PhD project focuses on utilizing bioprinting and biofabrication techniques to create novel in vitro models of cardiac tissue, aimed at improving drug development pathways and better replicating human responses. The position includes 100% fees coverage and a minimum tax-free annual living allowance of £20,780 (2025/26 UKRI rate).

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Minimum 2:1 Honours degree or international equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Contextual admissions process considers experience and competencies alongside academic qualifications.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • A master’s qualification is not required if alternative experience in a work or research-based project is demonstrated.
  • Only open to Home (UK) candidates.
  • Applicants whose first language is not English must have an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with at least 5.5 in all sub-skills.
  • International applicants may require an ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) clearance certificate.

Job Description:

  • Conduct research on bioprinting and biofabrication techniques for cardiac models.
  • Develop in vitro models that can evaluate new therapies more effectively.
  • Collaborate with a team of supervisors and engage in innovative research methodologies.
  • Contribute to the scientific community through publications and presentations.
