Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A first or upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in theoretical/computational chemistry, numerical simulations, materials science, and/or data science is desirable.
  • Applicants must have or expect to receive their degree before the start of the position.

Job Description:

  • Research will focus on the design and analysis of topologically complex organic molecules, with a special emphasis on graphene-based materials, covalent-organic frameworks, and hyperbranched polymers.
  • The project will involve constructing multiscale simulation workflows and developing novel machine learning representations for functional materials.
  • Candidates will be trained in simulation techniques and chemical machine learning.
  • The PhD will provide opportunities to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, equipping candidates with transferrable skills for both academia and industry.

Funding:

  • The studentship includes a tax-free annual stipend and fees at the UK home rate.
  • Additional funding will cover research, training, and conference attendance.
  • Applicants who are not eligible for UK home fee status must secure external funding to cover international fees.
